MIGRATION
According to the UN, there are more than 272 million international migrants throughout the world, which is why safe migration policies remain one of the top priorities for many NGOs and international organisations. Our consultants have been involved in various studies that seek to understand migration practices and policies and to inform and support migration actors to provide effective and inclusive provisions and remedies for migrants. In Mauritius, INANGA experts conducted a case study on access to legal remedies for migrant workers. This study aimed to provide a better understanding of the most common grievance reported by migrant workers as well as the effect of certain institutions such as the Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) and whether or not they provided adequate assistance to these individuals. Our consultants have furthermore performed policy and academic research on migration governance in the context of the Covid-19 crisis in the Indian Ocean Island States (Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles and Comoros) and in West Africa (Burkina Faso), for the research center ACMS (African Center for Migration and Society Wits University, Johannesburg, South Africa).” Finally, we have worked for the IOM in developing training modules geared towards a successful development & implementation of positive gender responsive migration policy The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development recognizes the contribution of migration to sustainable development and INANGA strives towards reaching one of the Agenda’s core principles, which is to “leave no one behind.”
