Technical assistance mission to the Thematic Group of the Ministry of Justice for the implementation of justice sector reform in the DRC
This technical assistance mission was geared towards assisting the Ministry of Justice in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with the objective of implementing justice sector reforms.
Ourclientin this mission was theEuropean Union Delegation to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. One of the functions of theEU Delegationis to Contribute as a key partner to sustainable development and poverty reduction in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through its cooperation programs in areas such as good governance, infrastructure, reform of the police, and justice across the country.

About this project
Some of the activities which were realised include supporting the implementation of a judicial statistics system in the DRC, monitoring the implementation of the prioritised action plan for the justice sector, developing the skills of the staff and managers of the Ministry of Justice, coordinating support to the justice sector by international development partners and funding institutions, enhancing knowledge of good practices and management related to justice sector reform. This mission had a budget of 560.000 EUR.

Marcel Wetsh’Okonda - Expert jurist and Doctor in public law. His areas of expertise include human rights and justice issues in the DRC, as well as constitutional law.
Frédéric Chetcuti – Consultant. His areas of expertise include institutional and financial analysis, institutional strengthening and reform as well as development aid projects.
